The band, formed by American vocalist Allsion "VV" Moshart && British guitarist Jamie "Hotel" Hince, met when Mosshart heard Vince practicing in the hotel room above her ! Since then they've recorded their first song "Restaurant Blouse", published in the compilation If The Twenty-First Century Did Not Exist, It Would Be Neccesary to Invent It, and shortly after recorded their debut release, the Black Rooster EP. Their debut album Keep on Your Mean Side was quickly followed by their second album, No Wow, which was released on 21 February 2k05. Since then, they've completed their third album Midnight Boom, with the hit single "U R A Fever"
