Sweden, known for it's clean and simple outlook on life, right ?
I mean, it IS the home to IKEA - they obviously have something going for them
a prime example is the street style in Stockholm, the largest city and capital of Sweden :
my favorite :
the white, black and gray attire definitely has a clean look to it gray pants, black leather shoes, plain white t-shirt and white scarf -- finished off with a white camo jacket from an arm surplus store
this dude's H&M-ed out, with an H&M t-shirt, H&M necklace and the gray H&M hoodie. The jeans are from Cheap Monday and the shoes from Puma
"Centennial Hippie" ; H&M jersey dress, American Apparel tights, vintage scarf and black leather jacket
a little taste of what the rest of the world dresses like never hurts, especially seeing the trends that tend to cross-over into other street styles around the world
heard of the indie -, electro -, "turntable" artist Ruckus Roboticus from Ohio ?
I'm sure most haven't - it seems Ruckus Roboticus is pretty much unheard of.
the artist is known for fusing a variety of music, such as hip-hop, "children's music", funk and "experimental electronica", into a lively "story and sound" song
a taste of their music ( press play ) :
"When I Grow Up"
"The Birth of Ruckus"
There's even a remix of "Hunting for Witches" by Bloc Party ~ ( not a music video, sorry )
Ruckus Roboticus just recently released Playing With Scratches, the artist's first album
a little weird ? yeah but then so is Crystal Castles, Ladytron or M83
worth listening to ? I think so
keep a look out, you might just see them around at your local dance party or fashion show
Dance Parties && Raves have been around the town for sometime but it's only been relatively recently (( In the past few years or so )) That it's really grown to an entirely different level of party-dom
The two most known dance parties in the ATL, ,, F**KYESSS && AFTERLIFE and still growing and changing
according to one ( odd ) website , 52.289196% of ppl like f**kyesss yes Okay --- -
The parties certainly are taking a unique twist to their counterparts, such as the LA and NYC dance parties
&& What about the moon walk trend ?
and at the "Decatur Social Club" ?
are moonwalks a new trend growing at dance parties ? at ATL dance parties ? it's happened before,, after all
make sure to look @ LE CASTLE VANIA TREASURE FINGERS
parties by Always Never
F**CKYESSS ,, first thursday of every month AFTERLIFE ,, every saturday DSC ,, every friday
Pictures from OH SNAP! KID // Ryan Purcell Photography
Decatur Social Club - rave, dance party - you name it
one of Atlanta's several night life events, and one of it's oldest, DSC started out in June '04 with absolutely no expectations of living past one season
From Girls Talk in 2006, to Belgium Riot in 2007, DSC set a standard for future alternative night life events throughout the ATL
Tokyo's on the front , & of course , it has been for a while but now more than ever Tokyo is lending It's unique styles to fashion worldwide
Everyone knows Gwen Stefani's "Harajuku Lovers" ,, right ? of course Many feel that Gwen Stefani neutered the one-of-a-kind Tokyo street style. her lines are a weak imitation of the real thing
but nevertheless ,, The Street Style has spread -- - You see it everywhere
HERES THE IDEA You can break Tokyo Street Style down in two ways -- the first way being by categorizing the different styles by the different shopping areas they are found : Harajuku, Shibuya, Omotesanda, Daikanyama && Ginza.
Harajuku : consider it a basic element to World Street Fashion. with the bright colors and knee high socks, it's become a lifestyle. Mix it with London's own style && You've got the very Top in fashion
&& Ganguru : Including the valley girl looks ( Fake tans && Bleached hair -- - ew ) && nd even the gothloli style
BUT this doesn't even begin to grasp the true extent of Tokyo Style
another way to break things down is by the Underground approach Here ya go ~
Salon-kei ,, high street fashion, simple, clean, to the point. Say --- - Modern LA style, kind of that American Apparel touch
Lolita Fashion ,, born in the 80s - there's lots of pink, lots of red, lots of black. It's cute -- - remember Salor Moon ? haaa Yup
Hime-kei ,, PRINCESS STYLE - && That's just it. imagine what a princess would look like , and there, you have it
Goth+Mode ,, there's not much you can really say. Except ,, where it's REALLY un-fashionable in the US of A ,, , it's another statement there
Fairy-kei ,, light, soft, pop && "cute" ~ modern rave apparel modern rave apparel
Onei-kei Fashion ,, SCENE KID but w/ style
Female garcons & butlers ,, the whole simi cross-dressing waiter style ?
Maid style ,, that's says it all. Dress like your a maid and there you go ! ( Oh, but make it look good )
Cosplay ,, Performance. Imagine the 1990s NYC club kids okay ?
Goth-loli // Goth-punk ,, the new trend. It's a mix of high street fashion && Punk ,, plus a unique indie taste
My personal favorites are salon-kei, MAYBE lolita fashion, onei-kei fashion, fairy-kei, goth-loli //goth-punk and Cosplay is fun too
point being Tokyo's there and it's not going anywhere
the Dutch based clothing company has certainly created a stir, to say the least focusing on the raw denim idea, the denim used in their jeans is unwashed && untreated
urban military ~ a key design theme in the clothing apparel is "the military". the futuristic uniform look was created by combining military suits and jackets from around the world with a simple / urban feel ( explains the random hidden pockets and zippers )
G-Star Raw recently showed at New York Fashion Week ( Spring 2008 Collection )
from Tokyo to New York , the apparel is pushing it's way forward
this blog is in honor ,, of one crazy NEW YORK nightlife club kid celebu-tante
everyone remembers the infamous "club kids" of the 1990s , Right ?
&& of James St James ? Yes ,, the same who was associated with Warhol and Michael Musto quote unquote : "He was notorious for a lifestyle of excess that included heavy drug use, partying, and bizarre costumes."
COME ON ,, the movie Party Monster is one of my favorites ~ it's a classic !
&& ( Of Course ) the eye-opening novel by James St James -- - ---- Disco Bloodbath
well ( FYI - short in basics ) , James St James has released his second novel, and it's quite the storyline
Freak Show ! mm
Does it compare in grandeur to Disco Bloodbath , , though ? although NOTHING compares to the party - based reality of the 1990 Club Life
with their "Nu Rave" style , the street look may look a little extreme to many with the prime outlets at Helsinki and Turku , the style consists of the usual bright colors, the leggings and dyed hair
